01 — Modular design
Built like LEGO
UrbanCubby uses modular building blocks that adapt to each park's needs and budget. Supports items ranging from footballs and basketballs to large items such as badminton nets.
For cities & public spaces
UrbanCubby gives locations a new purpose — from basketballs, footballs and volleyballs to kubb and calisthenics gear. More movement, more interaction, and more value from existing public space.

Configurator
Every city or municipality that considers UrbanCubby composes its station in the configurator — and sends it to us as a tailored quote request, straight from the tool.
Monitor
The UrbanCubby Monitor shares what we learn from the projects launched this year in Flemish cities and municipalities — with a report you can download in your preferred language.
Already in the field
UrbanCubby stations are running today at Stad Gent, Brugge, Oudenaarde, Hemiksem, Grobbendonk, Tervuren, Dendermonde and Zwevegem.

Public spaces & municipalities
Designed for cities and municipalities — flexible in modular setup, optionally autonomous on solar power.

02 — Off-grid energy
Choose the optional solar roof to operate autonomously. A Voltaic Systems V102 battery stores the solar energy, so no electrical cables or trenching are needed.
03 — Remote insight and management
Authorised administrators can manage the lockers remotely and open them when needed. They see which equipment is in use and can help residents without being on site.
04 — Durability
Designed for intensive public use, with anti-graffiti powder-coated steel and weatherproof seals. Replaceable parts, such as the lock brackets, make repairs easier after vandalism.

Configured for your public space
Match the number and size of lockers to your location. Optionally choose a roof with a solar panel to run the system autonomously. The electronics and battery pack are neatly integrated into a single locker compartment.

Sport & play material
Every UrbanCubby can be delivered with a package of sport and play equipment. We currently offer various branded items — from footballs, volleyballs and basketballs to garden games like kubb and mölkky. Prefer your own range? As a city or municipality you can also fill the lockers with your own material.

Every item in our sport material package carries the inscription “Property of Cubby — please return after use”. That makes resale unattractive, which lowers theft and loss — and makes the collective, public character of the material visible.
The package is an offer, not an obligation. Cities and municipalities that prefer their own equipment can simply stock the lockers with their own sport and play material — the lockers work with any mix.
Brand activation
A branded UrbanCubby creates meaningful visibility and can make a station more affordable for your city or municipality.

Impact
UrbanCubby is built to create measurable social and environmental impact in public space.
SDG 10Sports and play equipment is available to everyone in the neighbourhood, regardless of budget, membership or club affiliation.
SDG 11Existing public space is used better: squares, parks and sports fields become active meeting places instead of underused infrastructure.
SDG 12Shared equipment replaces individual purchases. One set of gear serves a whole neighbourhood, and worn items are repaired or replaced per piece.
SDG 3A lower barrier to movement means more spontaneous sport, more outdoor time and more social contact in the neighbourhood.
SDG 9Off-grid, cloud-managed smart lockers are scalable smart-city technology that needs no trenching or permanent works.
Social economy
Belgian company — local social economyThe production of every UrbanCubby happens in collaboration with Optimat, a social economy enterprise that offers tailored, sustainable employment to people with a distance to the labour market. The impact therefore goes beyond the lockers themselves: each station that leaves the workshop also creates meaningful jobs.
Green Deal Huren en Delen
The Green Deal Huren en Delen brings together organisations committed to making renting and sharing the norm in Flanders. UrbanCubby puts that commitment into practice: shared sport and play material available to everyone in public space.
